In what comes as a major boost to the fortunes of the Indian team ahead of commencement of their Australian tour, Rohit Sharma has begun training at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
Rohit getting back to training at the NCA is a huge sigh of relief for the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and the team’s think tank as Rohit’s chances of playing against the Aussies in their backyard looked rather bleak when he picked up a hamstring injury towards the fag end of the recently awaited Indian Premier League in UAE.
There were a lot of speculations over what could be the extend of the injury sustained by Rohit in the thirteenth edition of the IPL and could he recover well on time to play for India against Australia in the Border Gavaskar series.
Rohit, who was initially not picked up for any of the 3-squads named for the all-format bilateral series against Australia was later on named in the Test squad after he played the knockouts and the grand finale for Mumbai Indians, which the Mumbai- based franchise won to lift their fifth IPL title.
MI skipper Rohit Sharma looked in good touch during his match winning knock of 68 against Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2020 title clash played at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
Ishant Sharma Showing Steady Improvement During His Rehab At NCA
Experienced seamer Ishant Sharma, who is also undergoing rehabilitation for his injury at the National Cricket Academy, was seen on Wednesday bowling with a good rhythm and clocking decent speeds under the supervision of chief selector Sunil Joshi and NCA head Rahul Dravid.
Both Rohit and Ishant are expected to fly together to Australia – where they will also have to serve 14-day quarantine.

Rohit’s fitness is not just important from a batting standpoint for team India in the 4-match Tests as he might also have to don the skipper’s hat considering the fact that Indian captain Virat Kohli will return back to India after playing the first Test against Tim Paine -led Baggy Greens.
