One is the dystouria associated with the eye i.e. blepharospasm and the other is the distemonia associated with the mouth, tongue and jaw. There is severe pain in these disorder and the person feels difficulty in opening the eyelids or jaw. There can be many genetic and environmental factors behind it. This condition can occur even if there is damage in the group of structures found inside the brain. In some cases, medicines used to cure diseases like Parkinson’s have also been considered as the reason.
Symptoms of meij syndromeBlepharospasm can be caused by stress, bright light, air pollution. In this, one eye is affected first and then the other eye is also slowly affected. The person has difficulty opening the eyelids due to muscle shrinkage and cramps. There is also an increased risk of blindness. Oromandibular dystonia causes a narrowing of the jaw and tongue muscles. Because of this, there may be difficulty in opening or closing the mouth. Problems like grinding of teeth can also arise in this. In this condition there may be jaw pain, facial pain and headache.
These are the treatment options
Currently, there are no technical diagnostic tools to detect a mild disorder. It cannot be identified using blood chemistry analysis or radiological imaging such as MRI or CT scan. There is currently no cure for diseases related to dystonia but its treatment aims to reduce symptoms. Botulinum toxin injection is considered to be the most effective for curing disorders associated with facial muscles, but this effect is temporary. Apart from this, avoiding sunlight is also a cure for this disease. If you have to come out in strong sunlight, wearing sunglasses and a hat can give you some relief.
